Shadowbrook is well-known in Santa Cruz County as a community-minded business. American Express has recognized its many philanthropic deeds and contributions and designated the restaurant as the California State Winner and National Finalist for their annual and prestigious "Good Neighbor" award. Additionally, Shadowbrook encourages local, non-profit groups and organizations to participate in its "Community Tuesday" program, when 1/3 (33%) of food and beverage sales on selected Tuesdays is donated to the sponsoring group. The majority, but not all, of the restaurant's annual cash donations are directed to this "Community Tuesday" program.
We also provide complimentary gift certificates to be used for prizes and raffles associated with fundraising events. These certificates are semi-restricted, as they are not valid on Saturdays, holidays or with seasonal or promotional discounted pricing. They also expire 6-months from the date of the event.
Our policy also requires that the gift certificates we contribute must actually be raffled-off or sold to raise revenue for the requesting organization. Thus, we do not donate food or Gift Certificates for rewarding volunteers or staff of an organization. Though we appreciate their good work in the community our limited resources are confined just to the charitable purpose of the organization.
Lastly and regrettably, we have found that there are far more worthy causes out there than we have the resources to offer them; but, we do try to do the very best we can and encourage all to apply. Here's just how to do that:
Requests made on official letterhead stationary are preferred.
a. the purpose of the fundraising event or effort
b. the date that it will take place
c. non-profit tax ID information, if available, and
d. the contact information (address and telephone number) of the requesting group and/or individual.
